Enterprise-level data leadership for nonprofits, without the enterprise price tag.
We bring 15+ years of experience leading enterprise analytics, BI, and CRM teams to your GA4 property, Salesforce database, or donor dashboard. We fix what's broken, build what's missing, and set up your staff to run it without us.
Most nonprofits will never have the budget for a director-level data hire. We give them access to that level of experience anyway, and leave them able to keep it going on their own.
Why PhilanthroData exists
How an engagement works
Goal alignment
We start with a short intake call to agree on one real decision your organization needs to make. That keeps the work focused on something useful instead of a vague goal like "understand our audience."
Fix, then build
We fix tracking problems first. Then we build reporting your team will actually use, sized for the time and people you have, not a data team you don't.
Sustains without us
One staff member gets a standing AI prompt and a monthly checklist that take about 30 minutes a month. You won't need us, or any consultant, to keep it running.
What we can help with
Most engagements start with one of these and grow from there. Each is work I've led at enterprise scale for years.
Web & marketing analytics
GA4 audits and fixes, Google Ad Grant setup, marketing dashboards, AI-assisted monthly reporting.
CRM & database architecture
Salesforce object design, full data migration, custom views and reports, API-connected data pipelines.
BI dashboards & reporting
Excel, Power BI, or Tableau dashboards built around real KPIs and the capacity staff actually have.
Data automation & pipelines
Custom scripts and API integrations that cut out manual, repetitive work, like an R pipeline built with salesforcer.
Grant impact reporting
Funder-ready dashboards and outcome statements, built from data you already track.
Grant application data support
The numbers and evidence your application needs. The narrative writing stays with you.
Training & AI enablement
Teaching one staff member to run the system independently, whichever capability area it touches.
I'm Chad Priest.
I founded PhilanthroData. My day job is Director of Marketing Insights at Teaching Strategies, LLC, where I'm building a Marketing Intelligence Platform on Databricks that brings Salesforce, Marketo, GA4, Bizible, and LinkedIn data together in one place. Before that I was Director of Business Intelligence at Pegasystems, Senior Director of Global CX Analytics at SharkNinja, and Data Analytics Manager at Eaton Vance.
Since December 2023 I've been doing this work for nonprofits pro bono, mostly data strategy, reporting, and automation for human services organizations. PhilanthroData makes it official so we can help more of them.
Recent work
Washington Improv Theater
A misconfigured ticketing stream was hiding real revenue. Once we fixed it, WIT went from a 12-channel report nobody had time to read to five monthly insights their staff now pull on their own, with no ongoing volunteer help.
The Amani Foundation
Full Salesforce database build and migration, plus a custom R pipeline (using salesforcer) for donor data and reporting. It saved the organization $22,852, which went back into residential care, education, and nutrition programs for children in northern Tanzania.
United Way of Montcalm-Ionia
Custom Excel dashboard built around organizational KPIs, with staff training and maintenance guidelines for long-term independent use.
Portland Wheelers
Google Ad Grant setup, staff training, and GA4 integration, including tracking for their annual summer festival.
Currently working with: Positive Parenting Boston (GA4 audit, review & tracking) and an NJ homeless shelter (Google Ad Grant setup).
“Chad consistently challenged us to think bigger and approach the project from a process improvement perspective. His flexibility allowed us to experiment with different data sets until we achieved a final product that will serve our needs for years to come. Chad's understanding nature, extensive knowledge and his willingness to teach as he created our project made him an invaluable asset to any team.”
Terri L., President & CEO, United Way of Montcalm-Ionia
